DEC 2010 --OFF LEASH PARK has come to an end for the 2010-2011 winter

We will be bringing back the dog park for winter 2011-2012, once a few inches of snow are on the ground. This page will have exact opening dates.

26 MARCH 2011 AT 10am to 3pm -- Indoor Yard sale and Silent Auction for the Moosonee Puppy Rescue

MPR Moosonee Puppy Rescue began in May 2003 and is run by Sharron and Paul Purdy. The Purdy's have dedicated their lives to save dogs from being trapped and shot in the isolated northern communities of Moosonee, Moose Factory, Attawapiskat and Fort Albany.

There are no veterinarian services in these communities so the only method of population control is killing. The dogs that do live face a life of neglect, abuse and abandonment. They are often found frozen in snow banks, crying and starving, injured and sick. They are simply dismissed as being valueless and without worth. Some dogs are found by nurses and teachers working in these communities and are delivered to the Purdy's by truck drivers while others are sent via plane or train. They live with Sharron and Paul until they are healthy, physically and emotionally enough to go to new forever homes. You can find out more about this amazing cause by visiting their website at Moosonee Puppy Rescue

The winner of the first contest will be the Bark Avenue customer who collects the most donations for Moosonee Puppy Rescue. We are going to help you by giving you gift certificates to hand out to anyone that makes a donation. Make sure you fill out the gift certificates as the second contest winner will be whoever has the most gift certificates used by the expiry date on the certificate (March 31 2011)

At Bark Avenue we know we have amazing customers. We also know that like us, you love dogs. That is why we're excited to announce that we are holding 2 contests that are only open to Bark Avenue customers. Both are designed to help raise money for a truly great cause.

The winners of each contest will receive one week of free daycare, a bath and brush and nail trim and an amazing goodie bag. Second place winners will win a bath and brush and nail trim and a goodie bag and third place winners will each pick up a goodie bag.

The winner of the first contest will be announced at Bark Avenue's 1st Annual Silent Auction and Indoor Yard Sale on March 26 2011 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please stop in as we are going to have a great time with lots going on and Sharron Purdy will be here with some of the pups that she has up for adoption.

We have one more thing to ask of you. We are looking for donations for our silent auction and yard sale. If you have a boss who loves dogs and can hit him or her up for a gift card or a new item that we could action off or co-workers who would all pitch in a couple bucks to by an item or a Tim card or a gift certificate for a service for the auction, that would be wonderful and if you have been putting off hauling a box of stuff to a thrift store, bring it in to Bark Avenue anytime in March, up until the 25th. br />
Good Luck to everyone who participates .
